Halloweiner!

10-31-16
Happy Halloween, y’all!! I’ve had the same Halloween costume since… 2010? It’s a (modest) sailor girl outfit and I’ve managed to wear it every year. But this year, it’s on a Monday, Booooo! Since I work in people’s homes and generally have to use public restrooms (think QT and Racetrac), I had no desire to be in a costume. Though I did wear a shirt with skeletons on it? I also wore mardi gras beads and gave a strand to each kid I worked with.

And I chose today to be my rest day. I got up at 4:50am ( a little late) and just couldn’t get my ass in gear. So I did some yoga and said I would go running this evening with a friend. Well turns out she wouldn’t get to run until close to 7:45pm, which is basically my bed time, so then I said I would cycle in the evening. The close we got to that, the less likely that was to happen. Raz was going to go for a ruck march but when I reminded him it was Halloween and he would seem like a total creep-o for walking around, sweating, while little kids were out in costumes, he decided staying home would be better. Also, he’s leaving for the next day or so to do some cool plane stuff.  So home alone is nice too ;)

I started reading “Slow Fat Triathlete” by Jayne Williams. That’s some funny S. Highly recommended. I reached out to Elite Triathlete (heh) Sarah Alexander and she was massively helpful.

Well tonight is whiskey, chocolate and bed by 8pm.

FW Run Co Christmas Tree Run!

12-20-16 Yesterday Amy P and I met up at the Fort Worth Running Company (FW Run CO, for the hipsters), around 6pm so we could run their annual Christmas Tree run. It's when a large 'herd' of people run from the FW Run CO to the Big A Christmas tree in Sundance square (1.5 miles), take a picture, then turn around and head back. Last year they had Adidas mugs with hot chocolate and Baileys! This year it was the FW RUN CO mugs with hot coco and cookies! Well, it was hovering around 32 degrees when we started out and let me tell you- that is brisk for this girl. I was wearing a long sleeve tech shirt, a short sleeve shirt, a hoodie over that, ear warmers, capris and gloves! Obviously, over dressed as I was sweating like mad, but the minute I would take something off, I'd freeze! The way up to the Christmas tree has a particularly unkind uphill, but it was fun to push! I like running in urban areas because you get to stop at all the red lights! We made it to the Tree...

Goggles!

11-2-16 Got up at 4:45am and was in the pool by 5:30am. I wore goggles for the first time and definitely got cocky. I had a ton of water go through my sinuses. Half the pool I’m sure. I was able to go back and forth 2x with the breaststroke and then back and forth plus one with the freestyle. Small upgrades but I’m making progress! I think I did 45 minutes of good movement and then accumulated 10 minutes of lunges and heavy breathing. Wow. I got a hell of a workout. There were several times I had to stop and pant. Excessively. And don’t worry, I ate leftovers for breakfast (black beans and broccoli) and then had a few chocolate grahamn crackers. Ah well, can’t win them all. I don’t have to go in until later tomorrow so I’m thinking about swimming again, just because I have more time. I’ve decided I can get my booties when I can swim for 10 straight minutes. Oh, and guess what! I signed up for the Lifetime Fitness Indoor triathlon on 1/8/17! It’s a 10 minute swim, a 30 minute cyc...

Chewy Necklaces

5/7/17 Made a few of those chewy necklaces I talked about last time! Super easy to make and a great way to kill time!  We had a party for one of the brothers on Friday and here's a picture of me with my sister in law.  She's 6 weeks ahead of me sooooo... 24-ish weeks? Raz's candidate won his race! So he's napping until church today and I'm sitting around trying to figure out ways to make more $$! I'm frustrated by my lack of OT work, but know that it's all in God's hands. He's provided so much for us and this is how I am learning to lean on and trust Him for everything.
